Alvarez Young Artists

Garsington Opera's Alvarez Young Artists' Programme is one of the most comprehensive in the industry.

Participants receive an unparalleled level of experience and support through the season and beyond. The young artists learn from the top practitioners about every aspect of being an opera singer in the 21^st century. They receive world-class coaching through seminars, masterclasses and performance opportunities. They are chosen through a rigorous audition process aimed at finding the most promising young talent, and then supported in many different ways as they make their way through the profession. These opportunities are available to all young artists who perform at Garsington Opera each season.

Many former members of the scheme have gone on to perform lead roles in the best international opera houses.

The programme was launched in 2014 with the generous support of José Alvarez Stelling and the Alvarez family. The impact of the scheme has been significant in the short time it has been established, and it continues to grow. Supporters found it intensely rewarding to see the singers that they nurtured in the early days go on to have dazzling careers – and to bring pleasure to so many.
