Welcoming back Ezgi Kutlu in L’italiana
Ezgi Kutlu makes a welcome return to Garsington Opera in L’italiana in Algeri this summer. She talks to us about returning to us, having made her debut in 2009, and the hilarity and fun she anticipates in Rossini’s masterpiece under conductor David Parry.
When I was invited back to Garsington for L'Italiana in Algeri (a role I have been looking forward to singing for a long time!) I was s0 excited and accepted immediately. I remember my debut with Garsington Opera as Angelina in La Cenerentola a few years back so fondly: the whole cast's joyful and enthusiastic participation, the warm and inspired audience, the unforgettable atmosphere. Garsington Opera is a magical place to be and to sing.
It will be a rare privilege to further discover the depths of the wonderfully elegant and virtuoso music of Rossini with David Parry. I am also looking forward to creating the witty, humorous, somewhat melodramatic, strong character of Isabella with director Will Tuckett. All in all, I'm delighted to be back!
