Applications Open: Alvarez Young Artists 2023

Applications are now open for the 2023 Alvarez Young Artists' Programme. Most successful applicants will sing in the chorus, but applicants will also be considered for covers and small roles, which may or may not be part of a chorus contract. There is also the opportunity to take part in development performance(s), masterclasses, recitals and other enrichment activities.

2023 Season:

Strauss, Ariadne auf Naxos in German (Conductor: Mark Wigglesworth, Director: Bruno Ravella, Philharmonia Orchestra)

Rossini, Il barbiere di Siviglia in Italian (Conductor: Douglas Boyd, Director: Christopher Luscombe, The English Concert)

Mozart, Mitridate, re di Ponto in Italian (Conductor: Clemens Schuldt, Director: Tim Albery, The English Concert)

Smetana, The Bartered Bride in Czech (Conductor: Jac van Steen, Revival Director: Rosie Purdie, Philharmonia Orchestra)

The main OperaFirst show next year will be The Bartered Bride, where covers will perform a full show with the Philharmonia Orchestra for a schools’ audience. We also hope to do a reduced Il barbiere di Siviglia for a primary school audience with The English Concert.

Applicants must be fully available as follows: Tenors/Baritones/Basses: 24 April - 23 July 2023 / Sopranos/Mezzos: 25 May - 23 July 2023. In all cases you must be available if required for weekends, evenings and bank holidays. Please note that covers will be required before these dates. Please note we cannot accept applications from those on a student visa. However, we are now able to consider those who would be entering the UK on a visitor visa.

Auditions will be held in Autumn 2022 until all chorus slots are filled. Dates will be announced soon.
