30th Anniversary Season announced
We are delighted to announce details of the 2019 Season, celebrating 30 years of Garsington Opera.
We present four new productions, opening with Smetana's The Bartered Bride on 29 May with Natalya Romaniw (Eugene Onegin, 2016) as Mařenka, Paul Curran (Death in Venice, 2015) to direct and Jac van Steen (Pelléas et Mélisande, 2017) to conduct the Philharmonia Orchestra, who join us for the third year of our partnership.
The Bartered Bride: 29, 31 May & 6, 8, 11, 15, 20, 23, 30 June
We welcome back Michael Boyd (Eugene Onegin, 2016 and Pelléas et Mélisande, 2017) to direct Don Giovanni with Douglas Boyd conducting and Jonathan McGovern (Die Zauberflöte, 2018) in the title role with a stellar cast.

In celebration of Offenbach's bicentenary we bring the UK stage premiere of Fantasio, featuring Hanna Hipp (Capriccio, 2018) in the title role, Jennifer France (Le nozze di Figaro, 2017) as Princess Elsbeth and director Martin Duncan (Il turco in Italia, 2017) with conductor Justin Doyle making his Garsington debut.

The final production of the seven week season is Britten's The Turn of the Screw. Louisa Muller makes her Garsington directing debut and we welcome back Richard Farnes (Falstaff, 2018) to conduct and Sophie Bevan (The Magic Flute, 2011) as the Governess.
