Garsington Opera gives performances of great artistic quality in a setting of extraordinary natural beauty. Performances take place in the spectacular Opera Pavilion, which sits within the rolling landscape of the Chiltern Hills, less than an hour from London.

The 2015 season included a new production of Così fan tutte; one of the seminal operas of the 20th century, Britten’s Death in Venice, with Steuart Bedford who conducted the 1973 world premiere; and Richard Strauss’s vividly autobiographical ‘bourgeois comedy’ Intermezzo. In addition, Garsington Opera collaborated with the Royal Shakespeare Company on a joint project, providing a rare opportunity to see an abridged version of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream illuminated with Mendelssohn’s enchanting incidental music.
