The 2014 season marks our 25th anniversary and we celebrate with two masterpieces and one undiscovered gem. The season opens on Friday 6 June and features a revival of our acclaimed 2009 production of Beethoven’s Fidelio; the British premiere of Offenbach’s fleet-footed and funny Vert-Vert; and Janáček’s 20th century masterpiece The Cunning Little Vixen. We also present, in this First World War centenary year, Peace in our Time? a special all-day event festival offering the opportunity to hear a celebrity cello recital by Steven Isserlis, readings of unheard Siegfried Sassoon poetry, an Old Masters cricket match, and an uplifting concert culminating in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.
